Marathon: A Story of Endurance and Friendship
Marathn is a heartfelt, tender, and very brave bok-one of the most moving works of nonfiction i have read in years. On the surface, it's the story of the author's own training for the New York City Marathon, going from the paunchy lassitude of middle-age to the hardened enduranceof a finisher. But the book is so much more than thata. Its about getting old, and how we confront our own mortality, or don't ; it's about being gay in american ; it's about frienship and love; it's about caring for an older lover who has suffered a debilitating stroke- the great sacrifices and great rewards. And much more. Beautifully written, novelistic in its scope, marathon displays the courage and resolve of two human beings human beings running for their lives.
