For as long as statistics has been taught in schools, students have found this subject difficult to understand and learn because of its unusually complex and abstract nature. Despite the publication of hundreds of textbooks in this field, each one intended to provide improvement over previous textbooks, statistics remains particularly perplexing and the subject is often taken in class only to meet school/departmental requirements for a selected course of study.
